Elizabeth Margaret Leddy (nee LaTomme)Elizabeth “Betty” Leddy passed peacefully on February 10, 2024 at the age of 96. Born on May 27, 1927 at Oxford Furnace, New Jersey, she spent much of her childhood growing up on a chicken farm, and graduated from St Luke’s High School in Ho-Ho-Kus. After graduating from high school, she went to work at United Fruit in New York City where she met the love of her life, Joseph Vincent, who was working as a draftsman. Joseph Vincent moved out to San Francisco in 1948 and asked Betty to come out and marry him which she did. They were married at St. Boniface Church in 1950, and moved to South San Francisco in 1955, where they raised four daughters and three sons. In addition to being a full-time mother and referee, Betty later worked as a bookkeeper. Joseph Vincent was a teacher at Aragon High School in San Mateo. Both were very active at St. Veronica’s Catholic Church in South San Francisco where Betty helped with bookkeeping, baked cookies for the priests and lent her beautifully trained soprano voice to the celebration of Mass each Sunday for many years.Betty was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother as well as a friend to many. She will be remembered for her outgoing nature and commitment to the community and her church.Betty is preceded in death by her parents Andrew Sr. and Catherine LaTomme (nee Ryan), her beloved husband Joseph Vincent, son Michael, sisters Mary (Schultz) and Catherine (Ahl), brother Andrew LaTomme Jr., and half-sister Ellen (Mosley). She is survived by her children Cecilia, Matthew (Gail Raabe), Paula (Jack Flower), Catherine (Philip Mast), Sean (Linda) and Damienne Smelt; grandchildren Scott and Kevin Leddy, Ryan Mast, Erin Madicen (Michael), Brennan Mast, Christopher Leddy (Jennie), Thomas Leddy (Melissa), Analise Leddy, and Elizabeth Bott; and great-grandchildren Melissa Bott, Callan Leddy, and Charlotte and Edward Leddy.Family and friends are invited to a Visitation from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Garden Chapel, 885 El Camino Real, South San Francisco. Vigil service will begin at 6:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 23rd at 11:00 a.m., at St. Matthias Church, 1685 Cordilleras Rd., Redwood City. Committal to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 1500 Mission Rd. Colma, California. In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty’s name can be made to Saint Francis Center of Redwood City or the Catholic Worker Hospitality House in San Bruno.
