Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Donna Jean Martin, a long time resident of Los Altos, CA, on October 8, 2023 at the age of 81. DJ, as she later became known, was born August 13, 1942 to the late Dr. Donald and Margaret Martin of Ypsilanti, Michigan. She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School, class of 1960, and a proud graduate of the University of Michigan.She moved to California and taught elementary school in the Campbell Union School District for 36 years. She was dearly loved by her students, and kept in touch with many of them throughout the years, even as recently as the last few months of her illness. DJ traveled extensively throughout her life, maintained friendships from childhood on, and kept her special sense of humor and beautiful smile throughout her illness. She leaves behind two sisters, Suzanne Buck (Bill) of El Cajon, CA, Kathy Martin of Rochester Hills, Michigan, and a brother, John (Leila) of Modesto CA, loving nieces, nephews, one aunt, numerous cousins and a multitude of very dear friends. A memorial is being held March 2, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Los Altos United Methodist Church, Los Altos, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to any of the following or a charity of your choice: Interlochen Center for the Arts, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or Los Altos United Methodist Church.
